Pacira BioSciences (Nasdaq:PCRX) Reports Strong Second Quarter 2026 Financial Results Driven by Revenue Growth and Strategic Execution

BRISBANE, Calif. — August 4, 2026 — Leads & Copy — Pacira BioSciences, Inc. reported a six percent year-over-year increase in total revenue for the second quarter of 2026, reaching $192.4 million. This growth reflects the company’s continued execution of its 5×30 strategy, characterized by robust revenue generation, durable cash flows, advancement of its product pipeline, and the establishment of high-caliber commercial partnerships.

The company reported second quarter GAAP net income of $4.7 million, or $0.12 per share, and non-GAAP net income of $29.5 million, or $0.75 per share (basic) and $0.73 per share (diluted). Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) stood at $48.7 million for the quarter.

Significant developments during the quarter included the divestiture of the iovera° business to Zimmer Biomet Holdings, Inc. The transaction, which closed on July 31, 2026, provides Pacira with up to $140 million, including an upfront payment of $70 million and potential future revenue-based milestone payments totaling up to an additional $70 million through December 31, 2031. Pacira will also collaborate on advancing the spasticity program with iovera°, potentially receiving incremental compensation upon successful completion and regulatory approval. The company received $73.6 million in cash after purchase price adjustments.

In another key development, UnitedHealthcare, the largest health insurer in the United States with approximately 40 million covered lives, has begun providing separate reimbursement for EXPAREL® (bupivacaine liposome injectable suspension) in outpatient settings, including hospital outpatient departments and ambulatory surgery centers. This allows EXPAREL to be reimbursed outside of the surgical bundle for eligible members, expanding access to non-opioid postsurgical pain management.

Pacira is also advancing its investigational, locally administered gene therapy for osteoarthritis of the knee, PCRX-201 (enekinragene inzadenovec). The company has transitioned to a scalable commercial manufacturing process to support future development and commercialization. Enrollment is underway in Part B of the Phase 2 ASCEND study, with topline data expected by the end of 2026. Additionally, the Phase 1 study of PCRX-201 has been accepted for publication in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases journal.

Real-world study findings presented at ISPOR 2026 highlighted the benefits of EXPAREL in total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) procedures, showing lower opioid consumption, reduced healthcare costs, and fewer opioid-related adverse events among Medicare Advantage patients.

Second quarter 2026 financial results showed EXPAREL net product sales of $147.8 million, a 3 percent increase year-over-year. ZILRETTA® (triamcinolone acetonide extended-release injectable suspension) net product sales were $32.6 million, a 4 percent increase. iovera° net product sales, prior to its divestiture, increased 22 percent to $6.8 million.

Total operating expenses for the second quarter of 2026 were $188.1 million. Research and development expenses were $30.2 million, and selling, general and administrative expenses were $91.8 million.

Pacira has updated its full-year 2026 guidance following the iovera° divestiture, now projecting total revenues between $735 million and $760 million. The company is reiterating its guidance for EXPAREL net product sales between $600 million and $620 million.

The company will host a conference call today at 4:30 p.m. ET to discuss these results and developments. Details for participation via phone or webcast are available on the Pacira investor relations website.
