Anil R. Diwan, PhD, President and Executive Chairman, will discuss clinical trial progress, including a Phase II clinical trial in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for NV-387 as a MPox treatment. The more severe strains of MPox Clade Ia and Clade Ib are prevalent in DRC.
There is concern over three new MPox Clade I cases in California, requiring hospitalization and not linked to travel, suggesting community spread, prompting preparedness.
Diwan stated that NV-387 could address rising MPox Clade I and Clade II cases in the USA, noting that current countermeasures are inadequate.
NV-387 has demonstrated safety and effectiveness in animal models, and it is highly unlikely that the virus can escape the attack by NV-387 because the drug NV-387 is created by mimicking the host-side “landing sites” of the virus in the human body.
