August 4, 2026 — Leads & Copy — IQVIA, a global provider of clinical research services and healthcare intelligence, and Medera Inc., a biopharmaceutical company focused on cardiovascular disease therapeutics, have announced a strategic collaboration aimed at accelerating the development of cardiac gene therapies and human-based drug discovery platforms.
The partnership will combine IQVIA’s extensive clinical trial and commercialization infrastructure with Medera’s specialized platforms, Sardocor and Novoheart. Sardocor focuses on creating gene therapies for challenging cardiovascular diseases, while Novoheart develops engineered human cardiac tissue for disease modeling and drug screening.
Under the agreement, Sardocor will utilize IQVIA’s expertise in regulatory affairs and trial execution to advance its FDA-cleared, AAV-based gene therapy programs. IQVIA’s support will include patient recruitment, data quality assurance, and assistance with regulatory filings, such as applications for expedited FDA designations.
Medera’s Novoheart unit employs the mini-Heart platform, which has already played a role in securing Investigational New Drug (IND) and Fast Track designations. This platform offers a predictive, human-based alternative to traditional animal testing and is being expanded to cover multiple organ systems for drug discovery and safety testing, in line with the FDA Modernization Act 2.0.
