HOUSTON, TX — August 18, 2025 — Leads & Copy — Impact Biomedical Inc. (IBO) has announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued U.S. patent No. 12,357,584 B2, titled “Composition and Method of Controlling Infectious Diseases with Functional Fragrances,” developed within IBO’s 3F™ technology platform.
The patent covers a unique composition and method for controlling infectious diseases, including formulations of constituents found in plants and fragrances with potential antibacterial or antiviral applications. The patent is set to expire on December 7, 2038.
According to the company, this expands Impact Biomedical’s 3F™ patent estate, which includes insect repellent compositions and anti-microbial applications. Potential applications include using the compositions as disinfectants and administering them to patients to treat infectious diseases, with potential effectiveness against pathogens like E. coli, MRSA, influenza, rhinovirus, and M. tuberculosis.
IBO CEO Frank Heuszel said the patent demonstrates the company’s business model of delivering new proprietary technology to address unmet needs in human healthcare. The company is in discussions with potential partners to move 3F™ toward the market in the U.S. and other countries.
