Folia Health Secures $10.5 Million in Series A Funding to Empower Patients

October 1, 2025 — Leads & Copy — Folia Health, a patient-driven health company pioneering home-reported outcomes (HROs), has closed a $10.5 million Series A funding round. S3 Ventures led the round, with participation from Crosslink Capital and Create Health Ventures. The funding will support the company’s mission to empower patients, recognizing their firsthand experiences with chronic and rare conditions.

Folia’s platform enables individuals to track and share symptoms, treatments, and outcomes with control. The company emphasizes consent and transparency, requiring explicit consent for data used in external research. Participants can see how their information is used, receive detailed reports, and withdraw at any time. Folia also compensates participants for research contributions through its Data Dividends program.

CEO Nell Meosky Luo stated the funding validates the company’s dedication to patient-focused healthcare, harnessing the power of individual patients. By providing a platform that directly values patients, Folia Health generates high-quality real-world evidence (RWE) for researchers, informing FDA discussions, treatment guidelines, and partnerships with life science companies.

Initiatives include studies across rare kidney diseases, a national study on Trikafta in cystic fibrosis, the first app-based remote study capturing daily experiences of people with IgA nephropathy and longitudinal research in sickle cell disease addressing healthcare disparities and pain management.

S3 Ventures’ Brian R. Smith noted Folia’s validated research platform redefines understanding of chronic and rare diseases. Folia’s CTO, Dan Toffling, emphasized the importance of real-world experience data for AI tools to accurately reflect individuals’ unique health journeys, highlighting the limitations of current datasets based on brief clinical interactions.

The funding follows Folia’s launch of Mosaic, a community insights research initiative allowing participants to ask questions and get answers based on aggregated data from others with similar conditions. The program is active for users with eczema and PNH, with plans to expand to lupus and sickle cell disease in 2026.
