Castle Biosciences’ DecisionDx-SCC Test Shows Improved Risk Prediction for High-Risk Skin Cancer Patients

FRIENDSWOOD, Texas — August 25, 2025 — Leads & Copy — Castle Biosciences, Inc. (Nasdaq: CSTL) has announced the publication of two new studies on its DecisionDx-SCC test, which is used for patients with high-risk cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The gene expression profile test (40-GEP) predicts individual risk of metastasis and response to adjuvant radiation therapy (ART).

One study showed DecisionDx-SCC predicts local recurrence in high-risk patients who have undergone Mohs resection, adding to the test’s capabilities. The other study, a clinician survey, confirmed the test’s results guide recommendations for ART and surveillance imaging.

Dr. Désirée Ratner of NYU Grossman School of Medicine noted the test results allow doctors to guide care based on individual risk in their high-risk SCC patients.

The studies showed DecisionDx-SCC significantly stratified local recurrence and metastatic risk among 414 high-risk SCC patients with negative margins after Mohs surgery. The test results also accurately predicted risk above thresholds where clinicians would recommend surveillance imaging and ART.

Castle Biosciences (Nasdaq: CSTL) aims to transform disease management through diagnostic tests. Its portfolio includes tests for skin cancers, Barrett’s esophagus, and uveal melanoma.
