Bioxytran Achieves Milestone in ProLectin-M Antiviral Drug Development

Boston, Massachusetts — August 7, 2025 — Leads & Copy — BIOXYTRAN, INC. has completed dosing in its dose optimization clinical trial for ProLectin-M, a broad-spectrum antiviral drug. The company is advancing towards introducing an oral antiviral treatment for respiratory infections, potentially decreasing reliance on traditional vaccinations.

ProLectin-M targets the galectin fold on the spike proteins of viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, influenza, and RSV. Studies have demonstrated its ability to neutralize these viruses, achieving complete responses in subjects. The dose optimization trial marks a critical step in refining the drug’s dosing strategy.

CEO of Bioxytran, Dr. David Platt, stated that the antiviral platform exploits conserved target regions present on the spike proteins and has the potential to neutralize a range of respiratory viruses. Bioxytran’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Leslie Ajayi, believes that ProLectin-M could become a first-line therapy for respiratory patients.

Bioxytran’s platform uses linear complex carbohydrate chemical structures to block galectins, proteins that facilitate viral attachment to host cells. In vitro studies have shown ProLectin-M’s potential to neutralize SARS-CoV-2, influenza, and RSV.
